Add ART to your stairs!

What a cool place to add art, the riser of your stairs!  If you are in the San Diego area contact Zuriser for consultation and installation.

Hang wallpaper strips for a quick touch of art

I had an empty wall and left over wallpaper from the above project (love the wallpapers from anthropologies) so I just used masking tape to hang it up quickly.

Caster wheels on a studio bed

I loved this Ikea bed but it was too low to the ground so decided to add this modern red caster wheels to it.  Now the bed has a touch of modern, is the right height and can be moved around so an airbed can fit next to it for guests :)

My favorite hair style and stylist!

I was not planning on posting things about myself, but this is more about style, especifically hair style and the art of it!

I've been blessed to have been referred to Ben Crase at Hyde Edwards in Little Italy. I can't say enough about the salon and the whole experience.  Ben has the most beautiful focus and creative eye of any stylist I've ever been to. I feel like a piece of art and he's painting it.  Can't help show him off and refer him to anyone that is looking for an amazing haircut.  Watch his two funky cuts and videos http://youtu.be/5p7xFJbDj_c and http://vimeo.com/89643019

Wine rack in an unused space

Instead of getting a total custom made cabinet, I bought one from Ikea and had a space left over, so I bought 6 Target wine wracks and glued them together to fit the area. Voila, pretty WINE RACK!

Reclaimed wood desk

I had a friend build me this beautiful long desk out of reclaimed wood :)  Each piece is so special and from reclaimed sources countrywide. The woods include red oak, chestnut, cherry, pine, polar and oak.

I do not like cables and router/tv cable boxes so I hid them inside a basket from target and attached it to the bottom of the table :)

I LOVE MY DESK!

Bead Bowl

I love these bead bowls for so many purposes... from a fruit bowl to smaller key/coin holder to makeup or jewelry bowl and more.  Plus they are SUPER easy to make and make great last minute gifts for adults, teachers, or kids. Everyone I have gifted this to uses it and loves it!

You need perler beads and an oven safe bowl and some type of oil.  Pre-heat the oven to 350. Lightly grease the bowl, then put a handful of beads in bowl and press them down to one flat layer, add more beads to desire bowl size/height.  Bake for about 10-15 minutes, when you see all beads are melted.  Let cool and the bowl will pop out easily :)

Artisan Sourdough Bread

This bread is is made the "ancestral way", in which the starter is made from airborne micro-organisms.  The rise takes 3 days in which most of the starches including gluten are being broken down for us :)  It's light, crispy and SOOOO delicious!  I learned to make it by taking a course from the very LOVED Biodynamic Wellness Center in Encinitas, CA.

If you are local and want to try it out, let me know :)

Here are some links of other foods I have been creating from my starter:

And some great shopping resources

Tire Ottoman

This ottoman is easy to make, even though time consuming, I think it's worth every minute cause the result was beautiful!

Get yourself an old tire. Cut out 2 circles (use the circumference of the tire) out of 1/2 inch plywood.  Attach them to the top and the bottom of the tire using wood screws (I attached the legs that I got at Ikea onto the bottom wood first, then attached that to the bottom). Mark the center of the top plywood and that's where you'll start the rope and wrap around the entire tire.  Use 3/4 inch sisal rope (almost 300 feet total) and this clear glue.

Here is my halfway of my second ottoman :)
